जीवन का अनमोल संदेश

आपने यह कथा पहले भी कभी न कभी जरूर पढ़ी होगी लेकिन धार्मिक कथाएं सिर्फ कथाएं नहीं हैं,ज्ञान का अक्षय भंडार हैं. वृकासुर की इस कथा में कई अनमोल संदेश छिपे हैं जो शिवजी और श्रीहरि ने दिए हैं.
ये संदेश ये सीख हमारे जीवन के लिए बड़ी उपयोगी है. आप कथा पूरी पढ़ें, कथा का आनंद भी मिलता रहेगा और साथ ही शिवजी का उपदेश भी.
एक बार नारद भूमंडल में घूम रहे थे तो उन्हें वृकासुर नाम का राक्षस मिला. उसने नारद से “देवर्षि! ब्रह्मा, विष्णु और महेश में कौन देवता ऐसा है, जो शीघ्र और थोड़ी ही तपस्या में प्रसन्न हो जाता है?
नारद ने सोच विचारकर कहा- वृकासुर! वैसे तो त्रिदेवों में से तुम किसी की भी तपस्या कर अपना मनोरथ पूरा कर सकते हो. ब्रह्मा और विष्णु जल्दी प्रसन्न नहीं होते. उनके लिए बहुत वर्षो तक कठिन तपस्या करनी पड़ती है. भगवान शिव थोड़ी आराधना से ही प्रसन्न हो जाते हैं.
औघड़दानी तो ऐसे हैं कि अपने भक्त की किसी भी मनोकामना की पूर्ति के लिए कुछ सोच विचार नहीं करते. भक्त जो मांगते हैं वह तत्काल दे देते हैं. तुम्हारी ही जाति के रावण तथा वाणासुर शिवजी से वरदान पाकर शक्तिशाली हुए थे.
वृकासुर ने भगवान शंकर की आराधना करने का निश्चय किया और हिमालय के केदार क्षेत्र में तप करने लगा. कुछ दिनों के बाद उसने शरीर को ही भगवान शिव को अर्पित करना शुरू किया. वह अपने शरीर का मांस काट-काटकर यज्ञकुंड में डालने लगा.

परंतु भगवान शंकर उस पर प्रसन्न न हुए. तब उबकर एक दिन उसने अपना शीश काटकर अर्पित करने का निश्चय किया. जैसे ही उसने खड्ग उठाकर शीश काटना चाहा, भगवान शिव प्रकट हो गए और वरदान मांगने को कहा.
वृकासुर बोला- नारद ने कहा था कि आप शीघ्र ही प्रसन्न हो जाते हैं पर मैं इतने वर्षो से तप कर रहा था. आप प्रसन्न नहीं हुए. आज मैं अपने प्राण देने चला तब आप प्रसन्न हो गए. एक बात तो समझ आ गई कि आप शीघ्र प्रसन्न नहीं होते.
इसका मतलब नारद ने मेरे साथ छल किया. उसे तो दंडित करना ही होगा. नारद जैसे पाखंडियों को मैं संसार में दंडित करूंगा. आप मुझे ‘मारण वर’ दीजिए. मैं जिस प्राणी के सिर पर मात्र हाथ भर रख दूं, उसी का नाश हो जाए.
शिवजी ने कहा- वृकासुर तुमने इतना कठिन तप किया है. इतने त्याग का फल किसी का अनिष्ट करने वाला क्यों चाहते हो. चाहो तो तुम अपने कल्याण के वरदान मांग लो. दूसरे का अहित सोचने से तो अच्छा है अपना ही हित कर लेना.
मैं तुम्हें अवसर देता हूं एक बार पुनः विचार कर लो. तुम्हें अगर विचार करने के लिए कुछ समय चाहिए तो मैं प्रतीक्षा कर लूंगा.
वृकासुर शिवजी के कही बात का मर्म ही नहीं समझ पाया. उसे लगा शिवजी वरदान देना नहीं चाहते इसलिए तरह-तरह से बहला रहे हैं. उसे बड़ा क्रोध आया.
वृकासुर बोला- मेरे साथ छल पर छल होता आ रहा है. पहले तो नारद ने झूठ बोला. अब आप प्रसन्न हुए भी तो मेरा इच्छित वरदान देने में आनाकानी कर रहे हैं. क्या यही देव परंपरा है! अब आप स्वयं द्वारा स्थापित नियम भी भंग करेंगे.
मुझे तो अपनी पसंद का वरदान चाहिए, मैं उसी में संतुष्ट हूं. आप तो मुझे मारण वर ही दीजिए.
शिवजी को उसकी बुद्धिहीनता पर दया आ गई. उन्होंने उसे पुनः समझाने का प्रयास किया.

शिवजी बोले- वृक तुमने कठोर तप से मुझे प्रसन्न किया है. मैं तुम्हारे तप से प्रसन्न हूं. जिस पर मैं प्रसन्न होता हूं उसमें अपना पुत्ररूप देखता हूं. इसलिए पिता की भांति तुम्हारे कल्याण की चिंता करना मेरा दायित्व है.
तुम्हारी प्रसन्नता के लिए इच्छित वरदान भी दे दूंगा फिर भी मैं तुम्हें परामर्श इसलिए दे रहा हूं क्योंकि मुझे तुम्हारा तप नष्ट होता दिख रहा है.
वृकासुर तो जैसे प्रतिशोध के लिए जल रहा था. उसने शिवजी की सलाह न मानी और अपनी बात पर अड़ा रहा. शिवजी ने आखिरकार उसका इच्छित वर दे दिया.
शिवजी बोले- तुम यही चाहते हो तो यही सही. तुम जिसके सिर पर हाथ रख दोगे वह भस्म हो जाएगा.
भगवान शिव का आशीर्वाद पाते ही वृकासुर की आसुरी प्रवृत्ति तीव्र रूप से जाग्रत हो गई. उसे लगा कि इतनी आनाकानी के बाद वरदान दिया है, क्या पता सही में भी दिया है या ऐसे ही बहला रहे हैं. इसे तो जांचना चाहिए.
वृकासुर ने शिवजी से कहा- प्रभु जरा ठहरिए. आपने जो वर दिया है वह सचमुच दिया है या बस यूं ही बोल गए इसकी जांच कैसे हो. आपकी आनाकानी के बाद तो मुझे आप पर विश्वास ही नहीं है. मैं तो इसकी परीक्षा लेना चाहता हूं.
इसलिए पहले मैं आपके सिर पर ही हाथ रखकर देखूंगा हूं कि आपका दिया वरदान सच्चा है या झूठा. आप जरा इधर आइए.

वृकासुर की बात सुनकर शिवजी समझ गए कि असुर ने अपने जाल में फंसा लिया है. अब क्या करें? वह राक्षस न कुछ सुनेगा, न मानेगा. कहीं वह उन्हें ही न भस्म कर दे.
ऐसा सोचकर शंकरजी भागे. शिवजी को भागता देख उसका क्रोध बढ़ गया.
वह पीछा करने लगा. नारद ने भी मुझसे छल किया. अब वरदान की परीक्षा से डरकर शिवजी भाग रहे हैं, यह सोचकर वह उनके पीछे लगा रहा.
शंकरजी भूमंडल छोडकर देवलोक तक भागते रहे और वृकासुर भी आसुरी शक्ति के बल पर उनका पीछा करता रहा.
ऋषि, मुनि तथा समस्त देवगण असहाय होकर यह देखते रहे, पर करे क्या? कौन उसके सामने पड़े और भस्म हो. अंत में शिवजी विष्णुलोक पहुंचे और अपनी विपदा सुनाई.
विष्णुजी ने हंसकर कहा- मेरे भगवन भोलेनाथ आप कितने सरल हैं. असुरों को बिना विचारे वरदान दे देते हैं. आपके वरदान को सत्य भी सिद्ध करना है. यह तो अजीब उलझन है. कुछ करता हूं.
शिवजी ने कहा- मैंने बिना विचारे वरदान नहीं दिया है. मैं जानता हूं कि इसकी बुद्धि भ्रष्ट हो चुकी है. यह इस शक्ति को प्राप्त कर संसार में जीवों का अनिष्ट ही करता इसलिए इसकी बुद्धि हर ली.
इससे पहले कि संसार में यह किसी साधुजन का मेरे वरदान के प्रभाव से अनिष्ट करे उससे अच्छा है कि इसे ही नष्ट कर दिया जाए. संसार के समस्त प्राणियों को एक संदेश देना आवश्यक है कि किसी की सरलता को उसकी हीनता या कमजोरी नहीं समझना चाहिए.
दूसरों की सरलता का लाभ लेकर अपने स्वार्थसिद्धि के मोहजाल में फंसे कृतघ्न का ही सबसे पहले नाश होता है. कृतघ्न अपने विनाश की पृष्ठभूमि स्वयं तैयार करता है. यह संदेश देने के लिए करनी पड़ी है लीला.

भगवान विष्णु ने यह सुना तो शिवजी को प्रणाम किया और बोले- प्रभु आपकी माया तो बस आप ही समझ सकते हैं. मैं इस माया में छिपा कल्याणकार्य समझ चुका हूं. मुझे आपने अपनी लीला में भागीदार बनाकर मुझे कृतार्थ किया है. अब इसके आगे का कार्य करने की मुझे अनुमति दीजिए.
भगवान विष्णु ने योगमाया से एक वृद्ध तेजस्वी ब्रह्मचारी का स्वरुप बनाया और उस ओर चल पड़े जिधर से वृकासुर आ रहा था. उन्हें वृकासुर दिखाई दिया.
उन्होंने स्वयं आगे बढ़कर असुर को विधिवत विनम्रतापूर्वक प्रणाम किया और कहा- हे सूर्प के तेज को लज्जित करने वाले परम तेजस्वी असुरराज कहां भागे जा रहे है? आप जैसे परमवीरों के चलने से पृथ्वी कांपने लगती है. आकाश थर्राने लगता है.
आपका प्रभाव ऐसा है कि आपकी गति से तीनों लोकों के प्राणी त्रस्त होते हैं. हे परमशूरवीर आप हम जीवों पर दया करें. हम आपके शरणागत हैं. आपके इस प्रकार दौड़ने से संसार क्षुब्ध हो गया है. आप विश्राम करके हम सब पर कृपा करें.
शरीर को कुछ विश्राम दीजिए. शरीर से ही सारे कार्य सिद्ध होते हैं, इसलिए इसे अधिक नष्ट मत कीजिए. आप तो सब प्रकार से समर्थ हैं. देवता भी आपके आगे तुच्छ हैं फिर भी मेरे योग्य कोई कार्य हो तो बताएं. कई बार तुच्छ लोग बड़े कार्य सिद्ध करा देते हैं.
अपनी प्रशंसा से वृकासुर फूला न समाया. उसने शिवजी के वरदान तथा उसकी परीक्षा की बात बताई.
यह सुनकर ब्रह्मचारी हंसे- असुरराज! किसके वर की परीक्षा लेना चाहते हो? शिव के वरदान की? जिसका अपना कोई घर-बार नहीं, जो भूतों प्रेतों के साथ घूमता रहता है, वह भला किसी को क्या वर देगा?
तुम्हें वरदानी होना था, तो ब्रह्मा, विष्णु की आराधना करते. शिव के पीछे श्रम बेकार किया. उन्होंने तो तुम्हे झूठमूठ का वर दिया है.

वृकासुर को पहले ही आशंका थी, अब ब्रह्मचारी ने कहा तो वृकासुर बड़ा निराश हुआ.
कहने लगा- मुझे तो देवर्षि नारद ने कहा था कि शिव की आराधना करो. वे ही शीघ्र प्रसन्न होकर मनचाहा वर दे सकते हैं.
ब्रह्मचारी ने कहा- तुम बड़े भोले हो, नारद पर विश्वास कर लिया. वह तो ऐसा घुम्मकड़ साधु है, जो सबको उलटी सलाह देता है. तुम्हें मेरी बात का विश्वास न हो तो खुद अपने ही सिर पर हाथ रखकर देखो कि कैसे शिव ने तुम्हें झूठा वर देकर छला है.
श्रीहरि ने उसकी झूठी प्रशंसा करके उसका विश्वास जीत लिया था. क्रोध और उत्तेजना के कारण उसकी बुद्धि पहले ही निष्क्रिय हो गई थी, प्रशंसा ने तो तो उसकी मत पूरी तरह से ही मार दी थी. उसने ध्यान ही नहीं आया कि अपने स्थान पर वह इस व्यक्ति पर भी परख सकता था.
वृकासुर ने ब्रह्मचारी बने भगवान के सुझाव पर वरदान की परीक्षा करने के लिए अपने सिर पर हाथ रखा और तत्काल ही भस्म हो गया.
इस तरह श्रीहरि की सूझबूझ से शिवजी एवं अन्य देवताओं की चिंता मिटी. शिवजी वहां प्रकट हुए. उन्होंने श्रीहरि को और श्रीहरि ने उन्हें प्रणाम किया.
श्रीहरि बोले- प्रभु आज से जो भी जीव अपने उपर उपकार करने वाले के प्रति कृतघ्नता दिखाएगा उसके सारे संचित पुण्य नष्ट होते जाएंगे. जिस लोभ में वह कृतघ्नता करेगा एक दिन वही उसके अंत का कारण बनेगा. ऐसे जीव धीरे-धीरे करके अपने अंत की ओर स्वयं जाएंगे और उन्हें पता भी नहीं चलेगा जैसे इस वृकासुर के साथ हुआ.
यह कथा सभी जीवों के लिए एक संदेश है. उपकार करने वाले के साथ छल नहीं करना चाहिए. जो दूसरों का बुरा चाहते हैं उनकी गति वृकासुर जैसी होती है.

But Lord Shiva was not pleased with him. Then, after boiling, he decided to cut his head and offer it. As soon as he picked up the khadga, she wanted to cut the shisha, Lord Shiva appeared and asked to ask for boon.
