राजा भोज और व्यापारी

यह एक मनोवैज्ञानिक सत्य है कि जैसा भाव हमारे मन मेे होता है वैसा ही भाव सामने वाले के मन में आता है। इस सबंध में एक ऐतिहासिक घटना सुनी जाती है जो इस प्रकार है-

कहते हैं कि एक बार राजा भोज की सभा में एक व्यापारी ने प्रवेश किया। राजा ने उसे देखा तो देखते ही उनके मन में आया कि इस व्यापारी का सबकुछ छीन लिया जाना चाहिए। व्यापारी के जाने के बाद राजा ने सोचा –

मै प्रजा को हमेशा न्याय देता हूं। आज मेेरे मन में यह अन्याय पूर्ण भाव क्यों आ गया कि व्यापारी की संपत्ति छीन ली जाये.

उसने अपने मंत्री से सवाल किया मंत्री ने कहा, “इसका सही जवाब कुछ दिन बाद दे पाउंगा, राजा ने मंत्री की बात स्वीकार कर ली। मंत्री विलक्षण बुद्धि का था वह इधर-उधर के सोच-विचार में सयम न खोकर सीधा व्यापारी से मिलने पहूंचा। व्यापारी से दोस्ती करके उसने व्यापारी से पूछा, “तुम इतने चिंतित और दुखी क्या हो? तुम तो भारी मुनाफे वाला चंदन का व्यापार करते हो।”

व्यापारी बोला, “धारा नगरी सहित मैं कई नगरों में चंदन की गाडीयां भरे फिर रहा हूं, पर चंदन इस बार चन्दन की बिक्री ही नहीं हुई! बहुत सारा धन इसमें फंसा पडा है। अब नुकसान से बच पाने का कोई उपाय नहीं है।

व्यापारी की बातें सुन मंत्री ने पूछा, “क्या अब कोई भी रास्ता नही बचा है?”

व्यापारी हंस कर कहने लगा अगर राजा भोज की मृत्यु हो जाये तो उनके दाह-संस्कार के लिए सारा चंदन बिक सकता है।

मंत्री को राजा का उत्तर देने की सामग्री मिल चुकी थी। अगले दिन मंत्री ने व्यापारी से कहा कि, तुम प्रतिदिन राजा का भोजन पकाने के लिए एक मन (40 kg) चंदन दे दिया करो और नगद पैसे उसी समय ले लिया करो। व्यापारी मंत्री के आदेश को सुनकर बड़ा खुश हुूआ। वह अब मन ही मन राजा की लंबी उम्र होने की कामना करने लगा।

एक दिन राज-सभा चल रही थी। व्यापारी दोबारा राजा को वहां दिखाई दे गया। तो राजा सोचने लगा यह कितना आकर्षक व्यक्ति है इसे क्या पुरस्कार दिया जाये?

राजा ने मंत्री को बुलाया और पूछा, “मंत्रीवर, यह व्यापारी जब पहली बार आया था तब मैंने तुमसे कुछ पूछा था, उसका उत्तर तुमने अभी तक नहीं दिया। खैर, आज जब मैंने इसे देखा तो मेरे मन का भाव बदल गया! पता नहीं आज मैं इसपर खुश क्यों हो रहा हूँ और इसे इनाम देना चाहता हूँ!

मंत्री को तो जैसे इसी क्षण की प्रतीक्षा थी। उसने समझाया-

महाराज! दोनों ही प्रश्नों का उत्तर आज दे रहा हूं। जब यह पहले आया था तब अपनी चन्दन की लकड़ियों का ढेर बेंचने के लिए आपकी मृत्यु के बारे में सोच रहा था। लेकिन अब यह रोज आपके भोजन के लिए एक मन लकड़ियाँ देता है इसलिए अब ये आपके लम्बे जीवन की कामना करता है। यही कारण है कि पहले आप इसे दण्डित करना चाहते थे और अब इनाम देना चाहते हैं।

मित्रों, अपनी जैसी भावना होती है वैसा ही प्रतिबिंब दूसरे के मन पर पड़ने लगता है। जैसे हम होते है वैसे ही परिस्थितियां हमारी ओर आकर्षित होती हैं। हमारी जैसी सोच होगी वैसे ही लोग हमें मिलेंगे। यहीं इस जगत का नियम है – हम जैसा बोते हैं वैसा काटते हैं…हम जैसा दूसरों के लिए मन में भाव रखते हैं वैसा ही भाव दूसरों के मन में हमारे प्रति हो जाता है!

अतः इस कहानी से हमें ये सीख मिलती है कि हमेशा औरों के प्रति सकारात्मक भाव रखें।
