दिए हुए वचन को पूरी तरह निभाया राम मनोहर लोहिया ने

लोहिया जी तेजी से गाड़ी चला रहे थे। सामने सड़क पर एक किसान बिना लाइट की मोटरगाड़ी में सब्जियां रखकर ला रहा था। लोहिया जी की गाड़ी किसान की गाड़ी से टकरा गई। किसान अपनी सब्जियों समेत सड़क पर जा गिरा। उसे चोट लगी और सिर से खून निकलने लगा। उसने लोहिया जी को भला-बुरा कहना शुरू कर दिया। वह बोला, ‘तुम यहां से भागना नहीं, मैं अभी पुलिस बुलाकर लाता हूं।’

बहुत समझाने के बाद भी जब वह नहीं माना तो लोहिया जी बोले, ‘ठीक है आप पुलिस को बुला लाइए, मैं वचन देता हूं कि आप का यही पर इंतजार करूंगा।’ किसान पुलिस को बुलाने चला गया। उसके जाते ही लोहिया जी का मित्र बोला, ‘मुसीबत टल गई है, अब यहां से भाग चलो।’

पर लोहिया जी नहीं माने। मित्र के बहुत समझाने के बाद भी वह टस से मस नहीं हुए। थोड़ी देर बाद किसान पुलिस को भला-बुरा कहते हुए लौट आया क्योंकि पुलिस ने उसके साथ आने से मना कर दिया था। लोहिया जी को वहीं खड़ा पाकर वह आश्चर्यचकित रह गया और बोला, ‘मैं तो सोच रहा था कि अब तक तुम भाग चुके होगे।’

लोहिया जी ने कहा, ‘मैंने वचन दिया था कि आपके लौटने से पहले यहां से नहीं जाऊंगा तो मैं भाग कैसे सकता था?’ किसान लोहिया जी से बेहद प्रभावित हुआ और चुपचाप चला गया। राममनोहर लोहिया अपने वचन के पक्के थे। वह जो एक बार कह देते, उस पर टिके रहते थे।

Ram Manohar Lohia was sure of his word. The one who once said, used to keep on it. One night he went out to roam in the car with one of his friends.

Lohia ji was driving fast. On the front road, a farmer was carrying vegetables without a light motor. Lohia ji’s car collided with a farmer’s car The farmer went down on the road including his vegetables. He got hurt and started bleeding from the head. He started telling Lohia ji good and bad. He said, ‘You do not have to run away from here, I just bring in the police.’
Lohia said, ‘OK, you should call the police, I promise that you will wait for this.’ The farmer went to call the police. As soon as he went, the friend of Lohia ji said, ‘The trouble has passed, now run away from here.’
But Lohia did not believe. Despite a lot of persuasion of the friend, he did not get angry. After a while, the farmer returned the police as good and bad because the police refused to come with him. Lohia ji remained standing there and she was surprised and said, ‘I was thinking that till now you will have run away.’
Lohia ji said, ‘I had promised that I will not be here before returning, so how could I have been able to participate?’ The farmer was very impressed with Lohia ji and went silently. Ram Manohar Lohia was sure of his word. The one who once said, used to keep on it.
