सबसे बड़ा दान क्या है ?

यज्ञ में युधिष्ठिर से प्रश्न किया गया ‘श्रेष्ठ दान क्या है’ ? इस पर युधिष्ठिर ने उत्तर दिया, ‘जो सत्पात्र को दिया जाएं । जो प्राप्त दान को श्रेष्ठ कार्य में लगा सके, उसी सत्पात्र को दिया दान श्रेष्ठ होता है । वहीं पुण्यफल देने में समर्थ है ।’ कर्ण ने अपने कवज का शिवि ने अपने मांस का, जीमूतवाहन ने अपने जीवन का तथा दधीचि ने अपने अस्थियों का दान कर दिया था । दानवीर कर्ण की दानशीलता अत्याधिक जगविख्यात है । दान देना मनुष्यजाति का सबसे बड़ा तथा पुनीत कर्त्तव्य है । इसे कर्त्तव्य समझकर दिया जाना चाहिए और उसके बदले में कुछ पाने की इच्छा नहीं रहनी चाहिए ।

अन्नदान महादान है, विद्यादान और बड़ा है । अन्न से श्रणिक तृप्ति होती है, किंतु विद्या से जीवनपर्यत तृप्ति होती है । धर्मशास्त्रों में हर तिथि पर्व पर स्नानादि के पश्चात दान का विशेष महत्तव बताया गया है । सुपात्र को सात्विक भाव से श्रद्धा के साथ किए गए दान का फल अकसर जन्मांतर में मिलता है । भविष्यपुराण के अनुसार दानों में तीन दान अत्यंत श्रेष्ठ हैं – गोदान, पृथ्वीदान और विद्यादान । यह दुहने, जोतने और जानने से सात कुल तक पवित्र कर देते हैं । भूखे को अन्नदान करने वाला सुखलाभ पाता है, तिलदान करने वाला अभिलषित संतान और दीप दान करने वाला उत्तम नेत्र प्राप्त करने वाला सुंदर रूप पाता है । सभी दानों में वेद का दान सबसे बढ़कर है । जो दाता आदर से प्रतिग्राही को दान को ग्रहण करता है, वे दोनों स्वर्ग को जाते हैं । इससे उलटा अपमान से दान देने वाला और दान लेने वाला दोनों नरक में जाते हैं । जिस – जिस भाव से जिस फल की इच्छा कर जो दान करता है, जन्मांतर में सम्मानित होकर वह उन उन वस्तुओं को उसी भाव से पाता है । अन्यायपूर्वक कमाए हुए धन के दान के संबंध में स्कंदपुराण में लिखा है –

न्यायोपार्जित वित्तस्य दशमांशेन धीमत: । कर्त्तव्यों विनियोगश्च ईश्वरप्रीत्यर्थमेव च ।।

अर्थात् अन्यायपूर्वक अर्जित धन का दन करने से कोई पुण्य नहीं होता दानरूप कर्त्तव्य का पालन करते हुए भगवत्प्रीति को बनाए रखना भी आवश्यक है ।

In the scriptures, the special importance of charity after bathing on every Tithi festival has been told. Donations made to a deserving person with devotion in a sattvik spirit often reap the fruits of one’s life after birth. According to Bhavishya Purana, three donations are the most important of donations – Godan, Prithvidan and Vidyadan. By milking, plowing and knowing it sanctifies up to seven families. The one who donates food to the hungry gets happiness, the one who donates the desired child and the one who donates the lamp gets a beautiful appearance.

The donation of Vedas is the highest among all the donations. The donor who respectfully accepts the donation to the recipient, they both go to heaven. On the contrary, both the giver and the giver of charity go to hell due to humiliation. The person who donates whatever fruit he desires, after being honored after birth, he gets those things in that sense. Regarding the donation of unjustly earned money, it is written in Skanda Purana –
