एक दिन ठेले पर भार अधिक होने के कारण रामू उसे ठीक से सम्भाल नहीं पाया और तेज गति से आती ट्रक से भिड गया। अगले ही पल उसकी मौत हो गयी और उसके पीछे रह गयी उसकी पत्नी जानकी और दो छोटे-छोटे बच्चे गुड्डी और गुडडू।
एक तरफ रामू का अंतिम संस्कार किया जा रहा था और दूसरी तरफ उसके बच्चे बिलख रहे थे… नहीं इसलिए नहीं कि पापा मर गए थे….वे तो भूख से बिलख रहे थे…उन्होंने कई दिनों से पेट भर खाना नहीं खाया था…और आज तो मुंह में एक निवाला भी नही गया था…सो, भूख से रोये जा रहे थे…
माँ-माँ….कुछ खाने को दो न…माँ….बड़ी भूख लगी है माँ…कुछ दो न….
कोई पत्थर दिल भी इस दृश्य को देखकर पसीज जाता… पड़ोसियों को भी दया आ गयी….अगल-बगल से खाना आ गया।
बड़े दिनों बाद आज गुड्डी और गुडडू पेट भर के खाना खा रहे थे।
अजीब विरोधाभास था…एक तरफ लोग रामू की मौत पर दुःख व्यक्त कर रहे थे वहीँ दूसरी तरफ उसके अपने बच्चे बड़े चाव से भोजन कर रहे थे!
जानकी ने अगले कुछ दिन इसी तरह से उधार लेकर और इधर-उधर से मांग कर अपना और बच्चों का पेट पाला…लेकिन ये कब तक चलता? लोगों ने मदद करना बंद कर दी…जानकी पागलों की तरह काम खोजने लगी…लेकिन तमाम कोशिशों के बावजूद भी किसी ने उसे काम नहीं दिया।
जब थक-हर कर घर लौटी तो बच्चे उम्मीद से उसकी तरफ देखने लगे….
गुडडू तुतलाती आवाज़ में बोला-
त्या लायी हो माँ…जल्दी से खिला दो, बलि भूख लगी है…
माँ रो पड़ी और बच्चे समझ गए कि माँ के पास कुछ भी नहीं है…एक पल के लिए अजीब सा सन्नाटा पसर गया…
फिर गुड्डी बोली-
माँ, ये गुडडू कब मरेगा!
“पागल हो गयी है….ऐसा क्यों बोल रही है…..”, माँ ने डांटते हुए बोला।
माँ, जब पापा मरे थे तो उस दिन हम लोगों को पेट भर खाना मिला था….गुडडू मरेगा तो फिर खाना आएगा ना!
गुड्डी की बातें सुनकर माँ कि आँखें फटी की फटी रही गयीं…उसके पास गुड्डी की बात को कोई जवाब ना था!
दोस्तों, ये सिर्फ एक कहानी नहीं है…ये दुनिया के करोड़ों लोगों की हक़ीकत है! इस पर गौर कीजिये, जिस खाने को हम थाली में ऐसे ही छोड़ देते हैं उसकी कीमत को समझिये…बचपन से हमें अन्न का आदर करना सिखाया जाता है लेकिन चूँकि हमने कभी असल भूख नहीं देखी होती इसलिए हम उसका आदर करना नहीं सीखते…एक दिन… बस एक दिन भूखा रह कर देखिये और आप करोड़ों लोगों का दर्द समझ जायेंगे!
One day, due to the overloaded load, Ramu could not handle it properly and got hit by a truck coming at a fast speed. He died the next moment and his wife Janaki and two small children Guddi and Guddu followed him.
On one side, Ramu was being cremated and on the other side his children were beating … not because Papa had died … They were begging for hunger … they had not eaten enough for many days … and today So even a bribe was not done in the mouth ….. So, we were crying out of hunger …
Mother-mother …. Do not eat anything, mother … … is hungry, mother … some two …

Guddi and Guddu were eating stomach food after a long time.

After hearing Guddi’s words, her eyes were torn off … she had no answer to Guddi’s talk!
