सत्कर्म की प्रेरणा

महामना पंडित मदनमोहन मालवीयजी श्रीमद्भागवत के गहन अध्येता थे। एक बार संत प्रभुदत्त ब्रह्मचारी मालवीयजी के दर्शन करने काशी गए। उन्होंने उनसे प्रश्न किया, ‘आपको श्रीमद्भागवत के किस श्लोक ने सबसे ज्यादा प्रभावित किया?’ महामना ने कहा

'मनसैतानि भूतानि प्रणमेद्रहु मानयन। ईयवरो जीवकलया प्रविष्टो भगवानिति॥

अर्थात् सभी प्राणियों में भगवान् ने ही अंशभूत जीव के रूप में प्रवेश किया है, यह मानकर सभी प्राणियों को सम्मान देते हुए प्रणाम करना चाहिए।

मैं इस श्लोक को भारतीय संस्कृति का सार मानता हूँ। मालवीयजी न सिर्फ शास्त्रों का अध्ययन करते थे, बल्कि स्वयं उनके अनुसार अपना जीवन भी जीते थे।

वे कहा करते थे, ‘जो सत्य पर अटल रहता है, इंद्रियों पर नियंत्रण कर संयमित जीवन जीने का अभ्यासी है, उसे कोई भी लोभ, लालच या संकट छू नहीं सकता।

महामना एक बार अत्यंत अस्वस्थ होते हुए भी किसी कार्य में व्यस्त थे। कुछ शिक्षाविद् उनके स्वास्थ्य की जानकारी लेने पहुंचे। उन्होंने उन्हें कार्य करते देखा, तो पूछा, ‘आपको ऐसी परिस्थिति में भी कार्य करने की प्रेरणा कहाँ से मिलती है?

मालवीयजी ने कहा, ‘जब मैं पतझड़ में पत्रहीन पीपल वृक्ष को वसंत के आगमन पर नवीन सुकुमार पत्तों से हरा-भरा होकर लहलहाता देखता हूँ,

तो मुझमें आशा का संचार होता है। यही मुझे उत्साहित करता है। जो लोग छोटी-छोटी बाधाओं से निराश होकर बैठ जाते है, उन्हें जीवन में कभी सफलता नहीं मिलती।’ शिक्षाविद् इस जवाब से संतुष्ट होकर उनके चरणों में झुक गए।

English Translation

Mahamana Pandit Madanmohan Malaviyaji was a deep scholar of Shrimad Bhagwat. Once Saint Prabhu Dutt went to Kashi to see Brahmachari Malaviyaji. He asked him, ‘Which verse of Srimad Bhagwat impressed you the most?’ Mahamana said.

‘Mansaitani Bhutani Pranamedrahu Manayana. yevaro jeevakalaya entry Bhagwaniti॥
That is, assuming that God has entered in all beings as a part and parcel, all living beings should be worshiped with respect.

I consider this shloka to be the essence of Indian culture. Malaviyaji not only studied the scriptures, but also lived his life according to them.

He used to say, ‘He who remains firm on the truth, is a practitioner of controlling the senses and living a controlled life, no greed, greed or trouble can touch him.

Mahamana was once busy in some work despite being extremely unwell. Some educationists came to inquire about his health. When he saw them working, he asked, ‘Where do you get the inspiration to work even in such conditions?

Malaviyaji said, ‘When I see the leafless Peepal tree in the fall, swaying in the spring with new delicate leaves,

So there is an infusion of hope in me. That’s what excites me. Those who sit down disappointed by small obstacles, they never get success in life.’ The educationist, satisfied with this answer, bowed at his feet.
