श्री कामध्वज जी

राजस्थान के उदैपुर राज्य में एक सेवक परिवार रहता था। उस परिवार में चार भाई थे।
उसमे से तीन भाई तो उदैपुर के शासक रणजी के यहाँ सेवा कार्य करते थे, परन्तु चौथे भाई श्री कामध्वज जी भगवद्भक्त थे।
वे वन में रहकर भजन करते और समय पर घर आकर भोजन-प्रसाद पाकर फिर वन में चले जाते। यही उनका नित्य का कार्य था।
उनके तीनो भाई उनको ‘कामके न काज के दुश्मन अनाज के ‘ मानकर उनसे नाराज ही रहा करते थे।
एक दिन तीनो भाइयो ने श्री कामध्वज जी से कहा ‘भाई-यदि तुम थोड़ी देर के लिए राणाजी के दरबार में हाजिरी लगा दिया करो तो हमें तुम्हारा भी वेतन मिल जाया करे, जिससे घर का खर्च भी ठीक से चल सके।
इस पर श्री कामध्वज जी ने उत्तर दिया, मै जिसका सेवक हूँ, उसकी सेवा करता हूँ और उसकी हाजिरी बजाता हूँ, दुसरे से हमें क्या काम ?
भाई लोग उनका उत्तर सुनकर बहुत नाराज हुए और बोले –‘जब तुम मर जाओगे तोह तुम्हे जलाएगा कौन?’
श्री कामध्वजजी ने उत्तर दिया, जिसके हम सेवक है, वही हमें जलाएगा।
यह सुनकर भाईलोग उन्हें उनके हाल पर छोड़ कर चले गए।
इधर एक दिन भजन करते करते श्री कामध्वजजी का शारीर छूट गया।
कामध्वजजी का शव वन में पड़ा हुआ था। बंधू-बंधवो को न कोई खबर थी और न ही वे खोज-खबर रखने की जरुरत समझते थे।
परन्तु दीनबंधु श्री भगवन भला अपने ऐसे अनन्य सेवक को कैसे भुला सकते थे।
उन्होंने अपने उस सेवक श्री कामध्वज जी की दाहक्रिया का भार अपने सेवकश्रेष्ठ श्री हनुमान जी को सौपा।
श्री हनुमान जी महाराज ने उनके लिए चन्दन की चिता तैयार की, उस पर श्री कामध्वज जी का शरीर रखा और उनकी दहक्रिया की।
जिस वन में श्री कामध्वज जी रहते थे, वहां बहुत से प्रेत भी रहते थे।
श्री कामध्वजजी की चिताग्नि से निकले परम पवित्र धुएं का ऐसा दिव्या प्रभाव हुआ कि उसके स्पर्श और आघ्राणसे वे प्रेत उस अपवित्र प्रेतयोनी से मुक्त होकर भगवद्धाम चले।

English Translation

A servant family lived in the Udaipur state of Rajasthan. There were four brothers in that family.
Out of that, three brothers used to do service work under the ruler of Udaipur, Ranji, but the fourth brother Shri Kamdhwaj ji was a devotee of God.
They used to do bhajans while staying in the forest and after coming home on time, after getting food and offerings, they would go back to the forest. This was his daily work.
His three brothers used to be angry with him considering him as ‘the enemy of the grain of work’.
One day all the three brothers said to Shri Kamdhwaj ji, ‘Brother, if you attend Ranaji’s court for a while, then we should also get your salary, so that the household expenses can also be met properly.
To this Shri Kamdhwaj ji replied, whose servant I am, I serve him and mark his attendance, what do we have to do with others?
The brothers were very angry after hearing his answer and said – ‘Who will burn you when you die?’
Shri Kamdhwajji replied, Whose we are servants, he will burn us.
Hearing this, the brothers left them at their place and left.
Here one day while doing bhajan, Shri Kamdhwajji lost his body.
The body of Kamdhwajji was lying in the forest. The brothers and sisters did not have any news, nor did they understand the need to keep the news.
But how could Deenbandhu Shri Bhagwan forget such a unique servant of his.
He handed over the burden of cremation of that servant Shri Kamdhwaj ji to his servant, Shree Hanuman ji.
Shri Hanuman ji Maharaj prepared a sandal pyre for him, placed the body of Shri Kamdhwaj ji on it and performed his burning process.
In the forest where Shri Kamdhwaj ji lived, many ghosts also lived there.
The supreme holy smoke emanating from Shri Kamdhwajji’s pyre had such a divine effect that by his touch and incense, those phantoms became free from that impure spirit and went to the abode of God.
