हेनरी फोर्ड संसार के अग्रणी उद्योगपति थे। उन्होंने अमेरिका में फोर्ड मोटर कंपनी की स्थापना की। उनके नाम पर बनाई गई फोर्ड मोटर ने हर जगह नाम कमाया।

एक भारतीय उद्योगपति ने मोटर का कारखाना लगाने से पहले हेनरी फोर्ड से भेंट करने निश्चय किया।अमेरिका पहुंचकर उसने हेनरी फोर्ड को फोन किया और मिलने की इच्छा व्यक्त की। फोर्ड ने कहा शाम छह बजे मेरे घर पर आ जाना।

उद्योगपति उनके घर पहुंचा तो उसने देखा कि एक व्यक्ति अपने खाने के बर्तन स्वयं साफ कर रहा है। बर्तन साफ कर एक और रख देने के बाद उसने कहा कि बैठिए मुझे हेनरी फोर्ड कहते हैं।

भारतीय ने कहा कि आप इतने बड़े व्यक्ति होकर भी साधारण व्यक्तियों की तरह रहते हैं। अपना काम स्वयं करते हैं। यह काम के लिए आप नौकर भी रख सकते हैं।

फोर्ड ने उत्तर दिया- मैं शुरू से ही अपना काम स्वयं करता था, हाथों से किए गए कठोर परिश्रम के कारण ही मैं आज फोर्ड कारखाने का मालिक बन पाया हूं।

मैं उन दिनों को भूल न जाउं इसलिए अपना काम स्यवं करता हूं। संसार के इतने बड़े आदमी को इस तरह सादगी देखकर भारतीय उद्योगपति हतप्रभ हो गए।
