कड़वी वाणी करती हानि इसलिए सदैव मीठा ही बोलिए

सुंदर नगर में एक सेठ रहते थे | उनमें हर गुण था – नहीं था तो बस खुद को संयम में रख पाने का गुण |

जरा-सी बात पर वे बिगड़ जाते थे | आसपास तक के लोग उनसे परेशान थे |

खुद उनके घर वाले तक उनसे परेशान होकर बोलना छोड़ देते |

किंतु, यह सब कब तक चलता | वे पुन: उनसे बोलने लगते | इस प्रकार काफी समय बीत गया, लेकिन सेठ की आदत नहीं बदली | उनके स्वभाव में तनिक भी फर्क नहीं आया |

अंततः एक दिन उसके घरवाले एक साधु के पास गये और अपनी समस्या बताकर बोले – “ महाराज ! हम उनसे अत्यधिक परेशान हो गये हैं, कृपया कोई उपाय बताइये |”

तब,

साधु ने कुछ सोचकर कहा – “ सेठ जी ! को मेरे पास भेज देना |”

“ ठीक है, महाराज ” कहकर सेठ जी के घरवाले वापस लौट गये | घर जाकर उन्होंने सेठ जी को अलग-अलग उपायों के साथ उन्हें साधु महाराज के पास ले जाना चाहा | किंतु, सेठ जी साधु-महात्माओं पर विश्वास नहीं करते थे | अतः वे साधु के पास नहीं आये |

तब एक दिन साधु महाराज स्वय ही उनके घर पहुंच गये | वे अपने साथ एक गिलास में कोई द्रव्य लेकर गये थे

साधु को देखकर सेठ जी की त्यौरियां चढ़ गयी | परंतु घरवालों के कारण वे चुप रहे |

साधु महाराज सेठ जी से बोले – “ सेठ जी ! मैं हिमालय पर्वत से आपके लिए यह पदार्थ लाया हूं,जरा पीकर देखिये |”

पहले तो सेठ जी ने आनाकानी की, परंतु फिर घरवालों के आग्रह पर भी मान गये |

उन्होंने द्रव्य का गिलास लेकर मुंह से लगाया और उसमें मौजूद द्रव्य को जीभ से चाटा |

ऐसा करते ही उन्होंने सड़ा-सा मुंह बनाकर गिलास होठों से दूर कर लिया और साधु से बोले – “ यह तो अत्यधिक कड़वा है, क्या है यह ?”

“ अरे आपकी जबान जानती है, कि कड़वा क्या होता है ” साधु महाराज ने कहा |

“ यह तो हर कोई जानता है ” कहते समय सेठ ने रहस्यमई दृष्टि से साधु की ओर देखा |

“ नहीं ऐसा नहीं है, अगर हर कोई जानता होता तो इस कड़वे पदार्थ से कहीं अधिक कड़वे शब्द अपने मुंह से नहीं निकालता | सेठ जी वह एक पल को रुके फिर बोले | सेठ जी याद रखिये जो आदमी कटु वचन बोलता है, वह दूसरों को दुख पहुंचाने से पहले, अपनी जबान को गंदा करता है |”

सेठ समझ गये थे, कि साधु ने जो कुछ कहा है | उन्हें लक्षित करके कहा है |

वह फौरन साधु के पैरों में गिर पड़े – “ बोले साधु महाराज ! आपने मेरी आंखें खोल दी, अब मैं आगे से कभी कटु वचनों का प्रयोग नहीं करूंगा |”

सेठ के मुंह से ऐसे वाक्य सुनकर उनके घरवाले प्रसंता से भर उठे |

तभी सेठ जी ने साधु से पूछा – “ किंतु, महाराज ! यह पदार्थ जो आप हिमालय से लाये हो वास्तव में यह क्या है ?”

साधु मुस्कुराकर बोले – “ नीम के पत्तों का अर्क |”

सुनते ही सेठ जी को बहुत आश्चर्य हुआ ……

मित्रों” कड़वा वचन बोलने से बढ़कर इस संसार में और कड़वा कुछ नहीं | किसी द्रव्य के कड़वे होने से जीभ का स्वाद कुछ ही देर के लिए कड़वा होता है | परंतु कड़वे वचन से तो मन और आत्मा को चोट लगती है |”

इसलिए सदैव मीठा ही बोलिए

English Translation

There used to be a Seth in Sundar Nagar. He had every quality – he did not have the quality to keep himself in moderation.

He used to get upset at the slightest. People around him were upset with him.

Even the family members used to stop speaking to them after getting upset with them.

However, how long did all this last. He used to speak to them again. Thus a lot of time passed, but Seth’s habit did not change. His nature did not change at all.

Finally one day his family members went to a monk and told his problem and said – “Maharaj! We have become extremely upset with them, please suggest any solution. ”

Then,

The monk said something thinking – “Seth ji! Send it to me. ”

Saying “All right, Maharaj”, the family members of Seth ji returned. Going home, he wanted to take Seth ji with different measures to take him to Sadhu Maharaj. However, Seth ji did not believe in sage-mahatmas. So they did not come to the monk.

Then one day Sadhu Maharaj himself reached his house. They took some material with them in a glass

Seeing the monk, Seth ji got teary-eyed. But because of family members, they kept quiet.

Sadhu Maharaj said to Seth ji – “Seth ji! I have brought this material for you from the Himalayan Mountains, just try and drink. ”

At first Seth ji refused, but then he also agreed to the request of the family members.

He took a glass of liquid and applied it to the mouth and licked the liquid in it.

As soon as he did this, he took a rotten mouth and took the glass away from the lips and said to the monk – “This is very bitter, what is this?”

“Hey, your tongue knows what is bitter,” Sadhu Maharaj said.

While saying “everyone knows this”, Seth looked mysteriously towards the monk.

“No, it is not so, if everyone knew, then no more bitter words would be removed from their mouth than this bitter substance.” Seth ji, he stopped for a moment and said again. Seth ji, remember that a man who utters bitter words, before he hurts others, dirty his tongue. ”

Seth understood that whatever the monk said. They are targeted.

He immediately fell at the feet of the monk – “Say, Sadhu Maharaj! You opened my eyes, now I will never use harsh words from now on. ”

Hearing such sentences from the mouth of Seth, his family members were filled with piety.

Seth ji then asked the monk – “But, Maharaj! This substance that you brought from the Himalayas, what exactly is it? ”

The monk said with a smile – “extract of neem leaves.”

Seth ji was very surprised to hear ……

Friends “There is nothing more bitter in this world than speaking bitter words. The bitter taste of the tongue is bitter for some time. But bitter words hurt the mind and soul.”

So always speak sweet
