तेरा साईं तुझमें

एक बार एक विद्यालय में अध्यापक ने छात्रों की परीक्षा लेने के लिए प्रश्न किया, ‘बताओ ईश्वर कहाँ है?’ एक छात्र ने कहा, ‘गुरुदेव, भगवान् मंदिर में हैं। हम वहाँ उनके दर्शन करने जाते हैं। दूसरे छात्र ने कहा, ‘गिरिजाघर में। हम संडे को वहाँ जाकर प्रभु की प्रार्थना करते हैं।’

तीसरे ने कहा, ‘मसजिद में। हम वहाँ रोजाना नमाज अता करते हैं।’ चौथे ने कहा, ‘गुरुद्वारे में। हम वहाँ मत्था टेकने जाते हैं।’ जब पाँचवें छात्र का नंबर आया, तो उसने खड़े होकर विनम्रता से कहा,

गुरुदेव, कृपया आप यह बताने की कृपा करें कि ईश्वर कहाँ नहीं हैं?’ यह सुनते ही अध्यापक ने छात्र को सीने से लगाते हुए कहा, ‘तू असली निष्कर्ष पर पहुँचा है कि ईश्वर सर्वव्यापी हैं।’

संत कबीरदासजी अपनी साखी में कहते हैं

'तेरा साईं तुझमें ज्यों पुष्पन में बास। कस्तूरी का मिरग ज्यों ढूंढे फिरै सुवास॥

यानी तेरा साईं (परमात्मा) तुझमें ऐसे बसा हुआ है, जैसे पुष्पों में खुशबू। फिर भी तू कस्तूरी मृग की तरह कस्तूरी की गंध को बाहर ढूँढ़ता हुआ क्यों फिर रहा है? ईश्वर तो तेरे हृदय में ही विराजमान है।

संत तुकाराम कहते हैं, ‘जो देव सर्वव्यापक है, वह मेरे हृदय में नहीं है, यह कैसे संभव हो सकता है?’ संत तुलसीदास भी कहते हैं, ‘सियाराम मय सब जग जानी, करहूं प्रणाम जोरि जुग पानी।’

श्रीमद्भगवतगीता में भगवान् श्रीकृष्ण कहते हैं, ‘इस जगत् को भगवान् का ही स्वरूप मानकर मनुष्य भगवान् के विराट रूप के दर्शन कर सकता है। सचमुच ईश्वर कण-कण में वास करते हैं और हर जीव में बसते हैं।

English Translation

Once a teacher in a school asked the students to take an examination, ‘Tell me where is God?’ A student said, ‘Gurudev, God is in the temple. We go there to see them. Another student said, ‘In the church. We go there on Sundays and pray to the Lord.’

The third said, ‘In the mosque. We offer Namaz there daily.’ The fourth said, ‘In the Gurudwara. We go there to bow down.’ When the fifth student’s number came, he stood up and said politely,

Gurudev, please tell me where God is not there? On hearing this, the teacher said, hugging the student to the chest, ‘You have come to the real conclusion that God is omnipresent.’

Sant Kabirdasji says in his Sakhi

‘Your Sai Bass in you as you flower. As soon as you find the aroma of musk.
That is, your Sai (God) resides in you like fragrance in flowers. Why are you still looking for the smell of musk outside like a musk deer? God is seated in your heart.

Sant Tukaram says, ‘The God who is omnipresent is not in my heart, how can it be possible?’

Lord Krishna says in the Srimad Bhagavad-gita, ‘Assuming this world to be the form of the Supreme Personality of Godhead, one can see the cosmic form of the Lord. Truly God resides in every particle and resides in every living being.
