लोभी मनुष्य को स्वयं की तरह ही दिखाई देते हैं दूसरे लोग

बाबा अनंतराम हर समय लोगों की सेवा में जुटे रहते थे। उनके लाख मना करने पर भी लोग उन्हें खूब चढ़ावा चढ़ाया करते थे। बाबा उसे गरीबों में बांट देते थे। एक दिन एक सेठ ढेर सारे हीरे-मोती उनके चरणों में रखते हुए बोला- बाबा, मेरी ओर से यह भेंट स्वीकार करें।

बाबा ने हीरे-मोतियों की ओर देखा तक नहीं और श्रद्धालुओं की समस्या का समाधान करते रहे। सेठ को क्रोध आ गया। वह बड़बड़ाते हुए बोला-यह बाबा तो ढोंगी किस्म का मालूम होता है। हीरे-मोतियों को देखा तक नहीं, लेकिन मेरे जाते ही उन पर ऐसे टूटेगा जैसे कुछ देखा ही न हो। बाबा ने सेठ की बात सुन ली। उन्होंने बस इतना ही कहा कि सेठ जी आप कल आइएगा, कल आपको जवाब मिल जाएगा।

अगले दिन सेठ फल व मिठाइयां लेकर वहां पहुंचा तो बाबा उसकी लाई मिठाइयों और फलों को एकटक देखते रहे। सेठ के आश्चर्य का ठिकाना न रहा। वह धीरे से बोला- अजीब बात है, कल मैं महंगे हीरे-मोती लाया तो उन्हें देखा तक नहीं और मिठाइयों व फल पर बाबा की ऐसी नजर है जैसे आज तक कुछ खाया ही न हो।

बाबा बोले- सेठ जी, लोभी मनुष्य दूसरों को भी अपने जैसा ही समझता है। कल मैने आपके हीरे-मोती नहीं देखे, तब भी आपने मुझे लोभी ठहराया और आज मामूली मिठाई व फल देखने पर भी लालची कहा। मैं एक मामूली संत हूं।

हीरे-मोती,फल, मिठाई से मुझे कुछ लेना-देना नहीं है। मैं समाज का दुख दूर करने में ही अपना जीवन सार्थक समझता हूं। बस आप लोगों का धन निर्धनों तक पहुंचा देता हूं। यह सुनकर सेठ लज्जित हो गया।

I have nothing to do with diamond-pearls, fruits and sweets. I consider my life worthwhile only in removing the suffering of society. Just give you the wealth of people to the poor. Listening to this, Seth became ashamed.
