किसान कई दिनों तक वह लगातार खेत जोतता रहा। तभी एक बादल आसमान से गुजरा। आसमान से ही बादल ने कहा, ‘किसान भाई, तुमने सुना नहीं कि यहां पर 12 साल तक पानी नहीं बरसेगा, फिर तुम क्यों बेवजह मेहनत कर रहे हो।

बादल की बात पर किसान बोला, ‘मत बरसो, मैं तो खेत इसलिए जोतता हूं कि कहीं 12 साल बाद मैं खेत जोतना ही न भूल जाऊं।’ किसान की बात सुनकर बादल हैरान हो गई और वह सोचने लगा कहीं 12 सालों में मैं भी बरसना ही न भूल जाऊं। और वह बरसने लगा। उसे बरसते देख अन्य बादल भी वहां इकट्ठे हो गए और बादल की की तरह बरसने लगे। इस तरह भविष्यवाणी भी झूठी हो गई।
