यह चक्र है लाजवाब

बहुत समय पहले की बात है। पर्शिया राज्य के नागरिक पक्षियों से काफी परेशान थे। बहुत सारे पक्षी आते और वहां के किसानों की फसलों को तबाह कर जाते। परेशान किसान अपना दुःख लेकर वहां के राजा फ्रेडरिक के पास पहुंचे। फ्रेडरिक क्रोधित हो गया।

उसने तत्काल घोषणा की कि राज्य के सारे पक्षियों को मार दिया जाए। जो लोग पक्षियों को मारेंगे उन्हें पुरस्कृत किया जाएगा। पुरस्कार के लालच में वहां के नागरिकों ने सभी पक्षियों को मार डाला। ऐसे में उनकी समस्या तो हल हो गई। लोगों ने जश्न मनाया।

लेकिन जब अगले वर्ष किसानों ने खेतों में बीज बोए तो सारे बीज जमीन में रहने वाले कीड़ों ने खा लिए। पहले ऐसे कीड़ों को पक्षी खा लिया करते थे। उस वर्ष फसल नहीं हुई तो राज्य में तबाही का मंजर पैदा हो गया। ऐसे में राजा फ्रेडरिक ने दूसरे राज्य से पक्षी मंगवाए और अपनी गलती पर बहुत पछतावा किया।

संक्षेप में

सभी जीव इस पृथ्वी पर एक दूसरे पर निर्भर हैं। किसी भी चीज को कम करना यानी प्रकृति के चक्र को तोड़ना होता है। इस पृथ्वी पर जो भी कुछ है, वो बेकार नहीं है। उसे नष्ट करने का प्रयत्न हमारे लिए ठीक इस प्रेरक लघु कहानी की तरह अत्यंत घातक हो सकता है।
