तो बुधवार का व्रत ग्रह शांति तथा सब सुखो की इच्छा रखने वालों को अवश्य करना चाहिए इस व्रत में रात और दिन केवल एक बार ही
भोजन करना होता है| इस व्रत के समय हरी वस्तुओं का उपयोग करना श्रेष्ठ माना जाता है| इस दिन श्री गणेश जी की पूजा होती है| वैसे तो बुधवार का दिन बुध देवता का होता है| लेकिन ये दिन श्री गणेश जी को अर्पण किया जाता है| इस दिन बुधवार की कथा सुनकर आरती के बाद प्रसाद लिया जाता है| चलिए अब बात करते हैं|
बुधवार की व्रत की कथा एक समय की बात है| एक व्यक्ति अपनी पत्नी को विदा कराने के लिए अपने ससुराल गया वहां पर कुछ दिन रहने के बाद सास ससुर से विदा करने के लिए कहा तब सब ने कहा आज बुधवार का दिन है| आज के दिन गमन नहीं करते वह व्यक्ति किसी प्रकार ना माना और हटघन करके बुधवार के दिन ही पत्नी को विदा कराकर अपने नगर को चल पड़ा रहा में उसकी पत्नी को प्यास लगी तो उसने अपने पति से कहा मुझे बहुत जोर से प्यास लगी है तब वह व्यक्ति लोटा लेकर रथ से उतरकर जल लेने चला गया जैसे ही वह व्यक्ति पानी लेकर अपने पत्नी के निकट आया तो वह यह देखकर आश्चर्यचकित रह गया कि ठीक उसकी जैसी ही सूरत तथा वैसे ही वेशभूषा मैं एक व्यक्ति उसके पत्नी के निकट बैठा हुआ है| दूसरा व्यक्ति बोला कि यह तो मेरी पत्नी है|

मैं अभी-अभी ससुराल से विदा कराकर ला रहा हूं| वह दोनों व्यक्ति आपस में झगड़ा करने लगे तभी आरजे के सिपाहियों ने आ कर लौटे वाले व्यक्ति को पकड़ लिया और स्त्री से पूछा तुम्हारा पति कौन है| तब पत्नी निशांत ही रही क्योंकि दोनों व्यक्ति बिल्कुल एक जैसे थे| उसे समझ ही नहीं आ रहा था कि वह किसे अपना पति कहें लोटी वाला व्यक्ति ईश्वर से प्रार्थना करते हुए बोला हे| परमात्मा ये क्या लीला है की सच्चाई इंसान ही झूठा बन रहा है| तभी आकाशवाणी हुई की हे मूर्ख आज बुधवार के दिन तुझे गमन नहीं करना था|
तूने किसी की बात नहीं मानी ये सब लीला बुध देव भगवान की है| उस व्यक्ति ने बुद्ध देव भगवान से प्रार्थना की और अपनी गलती के लिए क्षमा मांगी तब बुध देव जी अंतर्ध्यान हो गए वह अपनी पत्नी को लेकर घर आया तथा बुधवार का व्रत वह दोनों पति-पत्नी नियम पूर्वक करने लगे जो व्यक्ति इस कथा को पढ़ता व सुनता है| उसको बुधवार के दिन यात्रा करने का कोई दोस्त नहीं लगता उसको सर्व प्रकार की सुखों की प्राप्ति होती है|
