अमेरिका की क्लेमसन यूनिवर्सिटी के शोधकर्ताओं ने दावा किया है की बर्थडे केक पर लगी कैंडल्स बुझाते समय केक पर थूक फैल जाता है जिसके कारण केक पर 1400% बैक्टीरिया बढ़ जाता है। ‘जर्नल ऑफ फूड रिसर्च’ में प्रकाशित इस स्टडी के शोधकर्ताओं के मुताबिक, ‘बर्थडे कैंडल्स को फूंक मारकर बुझाने की परंपरा की शुरुआत के पीछे अलग-अलग मान्यताएं हैं। कुछ मान्यताएं कहती हैं कि यह परंपरा प्राचीन ग्रीस में शुरू हुई जिसके तहत केक पर जली हुई मोमबत्ती लगाकर हंट की देवी आर्टिमिस के मंदिर ले जाया जाता था।’ तो वहीं कुछ दूसरी प्राचीन सभ्यताएं मानती हैं कि कैंडल बुझाने के बाद उससे निकलने वाला धुंआ आपकी मन्नत और प्रार्थनाओं को भगवान तक लेकर जाता है।
यह स्पष्ट है कि केक काटना और केक के ऊपर जलती मोमबत्तियों को बुझाना हमारी सनातन परंपरा का हिस्सा नहीं है। हमारे धर्म शास्त्रों में हमेशा खुशी के अवसर पर हमेशा से गरीबों, ऋषि मुनियों को भोजन कराने की परंपरा रही है ।

सनातन धर्म के अनुसार तो अग्नि को सर्वाधिक पवित्र माना गया है।

रामचरित मानस में गोस्वामी तुलसीदास जी ने अरण्य कांड में लिखा है प्रभु श्रीराम और माता सीता को अग्निदेव के पास सुरक्षित भिजवा दिया था –

सुनहु प्रिया ब्रत रुचिर सुसीला। मैं कछु करबि ललित नरलीला
तुम्ह पावक महुँ करहु निवासा। जौ लगि करौं निसाचर नासा॥
भावार्थ:-हे प्रिये! हे सुंदर पतिव्रत धर्म का पालन करने वाली सुशीले! सुनो! मैं अब कुछ मनोहर मनुष्य लीला करूँगा, इसलिए जब तक मैं राक्षसों का नाश करूँ, तब तक तुम अग्नि में निवास करो
जबहिं राम सब कहा बखानी। प्रभु पद धरि हियँ अनल समानी॥
निज प्रतिबिंब राखि तहँ सीता। तैसइ सील रूप सुबिनीता॥
भावार्थ:-श्री रामजी ने ज्यों ही सब समझाकर कहा, त्यों ही श्री सीताजी प्रभु के चरणों को हृदय में धरकर अग्नि में समा गईं। सीताजी ने अपनी ही छाया मूर्ति वहाँ रख दी, जो उनके जैसे ही शील-स्वभाव और रूपवाली तथा वैसे ही विनम्र थी ।
सनातन धर्म में फूंक मारकर अग्नि बुझाना सदैव से ही गलत माना जाता रहा है अक्सर हम लोगों ने अपने घर पर या धार्मिक स्थलों पर देखा है कि मंदिर में अगरबत्ती व धूपबत्ती आदि को हाथ से हवा झलकर ही अग्नि को शांत किया जाता है न कि फूंक मारकर..
अब मेरा एक प्रश्न है आप सभी पाठकों से की क्या लाकडाउन खुलने के बाद आप किसी ऐसी बर्थडे पार्टी में जाना पसंद करेंगें जहां मुंह से फूँक मारकर केक के ऊपर जलती मोमबत्तियों को बुझाया जाएगा….और फिर उस केक का पीस पार्टी के हर मेहमान को परोसा जाएगा….आपको भी परोसा जाएगा जबकि यह वैज्ञानिक भी स्वीकार कर चुके हैं
की फूंक मारकर मोमबत्ती बुझाने से सांस के साथ लार के कणों से केक के संक्रमित होने की संभावना रहती है
