भारतीय गिद्ध विलुप्त क्यों हो रहे हैं–

पर्यावरण के चेंज होने की वजह से और हमारे कुछ गलतियों की वजह से आज गिद्ध प्रजाति की पछी विलुप्त होने के कागार पर हे .
गिद्ध पक्षी वातावरण को स्वच्छ बनाने में महत्वपूर्ण भूमिका निभाता था। मृत पशुओं के सफाये के लिए गिद्ध प्रजाति के पक्षी उसके मांस का भक्षण करने को टूट पड़ते थे। देखते देखते मृत पशुओं का कंकाल ही रह जाता था। गिद्ध पक्षियों की संख्या में कमी के कारण मृत पशु शरीर सड़ जाते हैं और दुर्गन्ध से वातावरण प्रदूषित होता रहता है। लोगों में विभिन्न बीमारियों के फैलने का खतरा बना रहता है। आज मृत पशुओं के विच्छेदन होने के बाद उनका मांस हफ्तों पड़ा सड़ता रहता है।

भारत में गिद्धों के लिए कीटनाशक प्रदूषण भी एक खतरा है। क्लोरीनयुक्त हाइड्रोकार्बन डी.डी.टी (डाइक्लोरो डाइफिनाइल ट्राईक्लोरोइथेन) का प्रयोग कीटनाशक के तौर पर किया जाता है। यह गिद्धों के शरीर में खाद्य श्रृंखला के माध्यम से प्रवेश करता है जहां यह एस्ट्रोजन हार्मोन की गतिविधि को प्रभावित करता है, परिणामस्वरूप अंड कोश कमजोर हो जाता है। इससे अंडों की असामयिक सोने की प्रक्रिया होती है जिससे भ्रूण की मौत हो जाती है।
भारत में तेजी से कम होती गिद्धों की संख्या गंभीर चिंता का विषय है और सरकार और हम सब को इन मुर्दाखोर पक्षियों के संरक्षण के लिए तत्काल ध्यान देने की जरूरत है ताकि पर्यावरण साफ– सुथरा बना रह सके और रेबीज और इसके जैसी अन्य घातक बीमारियों से होने वाली मौतों से बचा जा सके.
1184 प्रकार के पछी आज लुप्त होने के कगार पर हैं तो हमारा कर्तव्य है कि हम इनको बचाये ,जब हम पर्यावरण को बचाये गे , तभी यह हमको बचायेंगे ,अगर हम पर्यावरण के साथ खिलवाड़ करेंगे तो 1 दिन पर्यावरण हमारे साथ खिलवाड़ करेगा.
अब समय आ गया है कि हम लोग संकल्प लें कि पर्यावरण को बचाना है और खुद बचना है.
