न्याय देने के बाद लाओ-त्जु ने छोड़ दिया था न्यायाधीश का पद

 

 

एक बार चीन में लाओ-त्जु अपनी बुद्धिमत्ता के कारण बहुत प्रसिद्द हो गया। चीन के राजा ने लाओ-त्जु से अपने न्यायालय का प्रधान न्यायाधीश बनने का अनुरोध किया और कहा कि विश्व में आप जैसा बुद्धिमान और न्यायप्रिय कोई नहीं है। आप न्यायाधीश बन जाएंगे तो मेरा राज्य आदर्श राज्य बन जाएगा।

लाओ-त्जु ने राजा को समझाने का बहुत प्रयास किया कि वे उस पद के लिए उपयुक्त नहीं हैं लेकिन राजा नहीं माना। लाओ-त्जु ने कहा कि आप मेरी बात नहीं मान रहे हैं लेकिन मुझे न्यायालय में एक दिन कार्य करते देखकर आपको अपना विचार बदलना पड़ेगा। आप मान जाएंगे कि मैं इस पद के लिए उपयुक्त नहीं हूं।

वास्तव में सम्पूर्ण व्यवस्था में ही दोष है। आपके प्रति आदरभाव रखे हुए ही मैंने आपसे सत्य नहीं कहा है। अब या तो मैं न्यायाधीश बना रहूंगा या आपके राज्य की कानून-व्यवस्था बनी रहेगी। देखेते हैं, अब क्या होता है।

लाओ-त्जु के पद पर आसीन होते ही पहले ही दिन न्यायालय में एक चोर को लाया गया जिसने राज्य के सबसे धनी व्यक्ति का लगभग आधा धन चुरा लिया था। लाओ ने मामले को अच्छे से सुना और अपना निर्णय सुनाया कि चोर और धनी व्यक्ति, दोनों को छः महीने का कारावास दिया जाए।

धनी व्यक्ति बोला कि आप यह क्या कर रहे हैं? चोरी मेरे घर में हुई है! मेरा धन चुरा लिया गया है! फिर भी आप मुझे जेल भेजने का निर्णय कर रहे हैं? यह कैसा न्याय है?

लाओ-त्जु ने कहा कि मुझे तो लगता है कि मैंने चोर के प्रति न्याय नहीं किया है। तुम्हें वास्तव में अधिक लम्बा कारावास देने की आवश्यकता है क्योंकि तुमने आवश्यकता से अधिक धन जमा करके बहुत से लोगों को धन से वंचित कर दिया है।

सैकड़ों-हजारों लोग भूखे मर रहे हैं लेकिन तुम्हारी धन संग्रह करने की लालसा कम नहीं होती। तुम्हारे लालच के कारण ही ऐसे चोर पैदा हो रहे हैं। अपने घर में होने वाली चोरी के लिए तुम ही जिम्मेदार हो. तुम अधिक बड़े अपराधी हो। इस तरह लाओ-त्जु को राजा ने पद से उसी दिन मुक्त कर दिया।

On the very first day as soon as the law and order took place, a thief was brought to the court, which stole nearly half the wealth of the wealthiest person in the state. Lao heard the matter well and told his decision that both the thief and the rich person be given a six-month imprisonment.

The rich person said that what are you doing? Theft has happened in my house! My money has been stolen! Still you are deciding to send me to jail? How is this justice?

Lao-Tzu said that I feel that I have not done justice to the thief. You really need to prolong the prisons because you have accumulated more money than you have donated to many people.

Hundreds of thousands of people are starving, but the craving for collecting your wealth is not reduced. Such thieves are being created due to your greed. You are only responsible for the theft in your home. You’re a big criminal. In this way, the king was released from the post that Lao-Tzu was released on that day.
