एक बार एक संत के शिष्य ने संत से पूछा ‘गुरुदेव आप हमेशा कहते हैं कि हमें एक क्षण के लिए भी प्रभु की ओरसे ध्यान नहीं हटाना चाहिए। किंतु यह कैसे संभव है?

बात बहुत पुरानी है एक राज्य का राजा अत्यंत अत्याचारी था। वह हर बात पर ही गुस्सा होकर प्रजा को बंदी बनाकर एक ऐसे वन में छोड देता था, जिसके चारों ओर एक ऊंची व गोलाकार दीवार थी। अधिकांश बंदी उस वन में भटकते हुए पत्थरों से माथा टकराकर मर जाते थे।

उन्हीं में से एक ऐसा व्यक्ति भी था, जो सदैव ईश्वर के नाम का स्मरण करता रहता था। उसे विश्वास था कि जब ईश्वर ने ये सारी मायावी रचनाएं की हैं, तो उस माया से निकलने का कोई मार्ग भी बनाया होगा।

वह प्रतिदिन उस दीवार के सहारे गोल-गोल घूमा करता था और दूसरों से भी ऐसा करने का आग्रह करता था, किंतु दूसरे बंदी या तो अपनी ही मस्ती में व्यस्त रहते या थककर बैठ जाते।

वह व्यक्ति न थका और न उसने बातों में समय गंवाया। आखिर उसने भगवान का नाम जप करते हुए, स्थान-स्थान पर स्पर्श कर-करके वह स्थान ढूंढ लिया, जहां से बाहर निकालने का मार्ग था।

इस प्रकार उसने वन से मुक्ति पा ली। यह कहानी सुनाकर गुरुजी बोले ‘यह सृष्टि भी चौरासी लाख योनियों का वन है, जिसमें विधाता ने हमें रखा है। जो प्रभु नाम रूपी आश्रय को पकडे रहते हैं, वे मोक्ष पा जाते हैं और जो इसमें चूके, वे भटकते रहकर कष्ट पाते हैं।’

He used to go round every day with the help of that wall and urged others to do the same, but the other captives either kept busy or tired of their own fun.

The person is not tired or he has lost time in talks. After all, he chanting the name of God, touching in place and finding the place, where was the way out.

Thus he got rid of forest. Giving this story Guruji said, ‘This creation is also the forest of four hundred million animals, in which the Creator has kept us. Those who hold refuge in the name of the Lord, get salvation; and whoever stays in it, they suffer from wandering.
