सोने का खेत

अकबर के महल में कई कीमती सजावट की वस्तुएं थीं, लेकिन एक गुलदस्ते से अकबर को खास लगाव था। इस गुलदस्ते को अकबर हमेशा अपनी पलंग के पास रखवाते थे। एक दिन अचानक महाराज अकबर का कमरा साफ करते हुए उनके सेवक से वह गुलदस्ता टूट गया। सेवक ने घबराकर उस गुलदस्ते को जोड़ने की बहुत कोशिश की, लेकिन नाकाम रहा। हार कर उसने टूटा गुलदस्ता कूड़ेदान में फेंक दिया और दुआ करने लगा कि राजा को इस बारे में कुछ पता न चले।

कुछ देर बाद महराज अकबर जब महल लौटे, तो उन्होंने देखा कि उनका प्रिय गुलदस्ता अपनी जगह पर नहीं है। राजा ने सेवक से उस गुलदस्ते के बारे में पूछा, तो सेवक डर के मारे कांपने लगा। सेवक को जल्दी में कोई अच्छा बहाना नहीं सूझा, तो उसने कहा कि महाराज उस गुलदस्ते को मैं अपने घर ले गया हूं, ताकि अच्छे से साफ कर सकूं। यह सुनते ही अकबर बोले, “मुझे तुरंत वो गुलदस्ता लाकर दो।”

अब सेवक के पास बचने का कोई रास्ता नहीं था। सेवक ने महराज अकबर को सच बता दिया कि वो गुलदस्ता टूट चुका है। यह सुनकर राजा आग बबूला हो गए। क्रोध में राजा ने उस सेवक को फांसी की सजा सुना दी। राजा ने कहा, “झूठ मैं बर्दाश्त नहीं करता हूं। जब गुलदस्ता टूट ही गया था, तो झूठ बोलने की क्या जरूरत थी”।

अगले दिन इस घटना के बारे में जब सभा में जिक्र हुआ तो बीरबल ने इस बात का विरोध किया। बीरबल बोले कि झूठ हर व्यक्ति कभी-न-कभी बोलता ही है। किसी के झूठ बोलने से अगर कुछ बुरा या गलत नहीं होता, तो झूठ बोलना गलत नहीं है। बीरबल के मुंह से ऐसे शब्द सुनकर अकबर उसी समय बीरबल पर भड़क गए। उन्होंने सभा में लोगों से पूछा कि कोई ऐसा है यहां जिसने झूठ बोला हो। सबने राजा को कहा कि नहीं वो झूठ नहीं बोलते। यह बात सुनते ही राजा ने बीरबल को राज्य से निकाल दिया।

राज दरबार से निकलने के बाद बीरबल ने ठान ली कि वो इस बात को साबित करके रहेंगे  कि हर व्यक्ति अपने जीवन में कभी-न-कभी झूठ बोलता है। बीरबल के दिमाग में एक तरकीब आई, जिसके बाद बीरबल सीधे सुनार के पास गए। उन्होंने जौहरी से सोने की गेहूं जैसी दिखने वाली बाली बनवाई और उसे लेकर महाराज अकबर की सभा में पहुंच गए।

अकबर ने जैसे ही बीरबल को सभा में देखा, तो पूछा कि अब तुम यहां क्यों आए हो। बीरबल बोले, “जहांपनाह आज ऐसा चमत्कार होगा, जो किसी ने कभी नहीं देखा होगा। बस आपको मेरी पूरी बात सुननी होगी।” राजा अकबर और सभी सभापतियों की जिज्ञासा बढ़ गई और राजा ने बीरबल को अपनी बात कहने की अनुमति दे दी।

बीरबल बोले, “आज मुझे रास्ते में एक सिद्ध पुरुष के दर्शन हुए। उन्होंने मुझे यह सोने से बनी गेहूं की बाली दी है और कहा कि इसे जिस भी खेत में लगाओगे, वहां सोने की फसल उगेगी। अब इसे लगाने के लिए मुझे आपके राज्य में थोड़ी-सी जमीन चाहिए।” राजा ने कहा, “यह तो बहुत अच्छी बात है, चलो हम तुम्हें जमीन दिला देते हैं।” अब बीरबल कहने लगे कि मैं चाहता हूं कि पूरा राज दरबार यह चमत्कार देखे। बीरबल की बात मानते हुए पूरा राज दरबार खेत की ओर चल पड़ा।

“खेत में पहुंचकर बीरबल ने कहा कि इस सोने से बनी गेहूं की बाली से फसल तभी उगेगी, जब इसे ऐसा व्यक्ति लगाए, जिसने जीवन में कभी झूठ न बोला हो। बीरबल की बात सुनकर सभी राजदरबारी खामोश हो गए और कोई भी गेहूं की बाली लगाने के लिए तैयार नहीं हुआ।

राजा अकबर बोले कि क्या राजदरबार में कोई ऐसा व्यक्ति नहीं है जिसने अपने जीवन में कभी झूठ न बोला हो? सभी खामोश थे। बीरबल बोले, “जहांपनाह अब आप ही इस बाली को खेत में रोप दीजिए।” बीरबल की बात सुनकर महाराज का सिर झुक गया। उन्होंने कहा, “बचपन में मैंने भी कई झूठ बोले हैं, तो मैं इसे कैसे लगा सकता हूं।” इतना कहते ही बादशाह अकबर को यह बात समझ आ गई कि बीरबल सही कह रहे थे कि इस दुनिया में कभी-न-कभी सभी झूठ बोलते हैं। इस बात का एहसास होते ही अकबर उस सेवक की फांसी की सजा को रोक देते हैं।

कहानी से सीख :

बिना सोचे समझे किसी को बड़ा दण्ड नहीं देना चाहिए। हर काम को सोच-विचार कर ही किया जाना चाहिए। साथ ही एक छोटे से झूठ की वजह से किसी व्यक्ति का आंकलन भी नहीं किया जाना चाहिए, क्योंकि कुछ परिस्थितियां ऐसी होती है कि लोग झूठ बोल देते हैं।

English Translation

Gold field
There were many valuable decorations in Akbar’s palace, but Akbar had a special attachment to a bouquet. Akbar always kept this bouquet near his bed. One day suddenly, while cleaning the room of Maharaja Akbar, his servant broke the bouquet. The servant panicked and tried a lot to add that bouquet, but failed. Defeated, he threw the broken bouquet in the dustbin and prayed that the king should not know anything about it.

After some time, when Emperor Akbar returned to the palace, he saw that his favorite bouquet was not in its place. When the king asked the servant about that bouquet, the servant started trembling with fear. The servant did not think of any good excuse in a hurry, so he said that Maharaj, I have taken that bouquet to my house, so that I can clean it well. On hearing this, Akbar said, “Get me that bouquet immediately.”

Now the servant had no way of escape. The servant told the truth to Maharaj Akbar that the bouquet was broken. Hearing this, the king was furious. In anger, the king sentenced the servant to death. The king said, “I do not tolerate lies. Why was there any need to lie when the bouquet was broken?

When this incident was mentioned in the meeting the next day, Birbal opposed it. Birbal said that every person tells lies at some point of time. If something bad or wrong is not done by lying to someone, then it is not wrong to lie. Hearing such words from Birbal’s mouth, Akbar was furious at Birbal at the same time. He asked the people in the meeting whether there is someone here who has lied. Everyone told the king that no he does not lie. On hearing this, the king expelled Birbal from the kingdom.

After leaving the royal court, Birbal is determined that he will continue to prove the fact that every person lies at some point in his life. An idea came to Birbal’s mind, after which Birbal went straight to the goldsmith. He got the jeweler made an earring resembling gold wheat and took it to the meeting of Maharaja Akbar.

As soon as Akbar saw Birbal in the meeting, he asked why you have come here now. Birbal said, “Jahanpanah today will be a miracle that no one has ever seen. You just have to listen to me all.” The curiosity of King Akbar and all the presidents increased and the king allowed Birbal to speak his mind.

Birbal said, “Today I saw a perfect man on the way. He has given me this gold-made wheat earring and said that in whichever field you plant it, there will be a gold crop. Now I need some land in your state to plant it. The king said, “It is very good, let us give you the land.” Now Birbal started saying that I want the whole royal court to see this miracle. Following Birbal’s words, the entire royal court started towards the farm.

“Arriving in the field, Birbal said that this gold-made wheat ear will grow a crop only if it is planted by a person who has never lied in life. Hearing Birbal’s words, all the courtiers became silent and no one was ready to plant a wheat ear.

King Akbar said that is there no person in the court who has never lied in his life? Everyone was silent. Birbal said, “Jhanpanah, now you yourself should plant this ear in the field.” Hearing Birbal’s words, Maharaj’s head bowed. He said, “I have also told many lies in my childhood, so how can I apply it.” After saying this, Emperor Akbar understood that Birbal was right that at some point in this world everyone lies. Realizing this, Akbar stops the death sentence of that servant.

Lessons from the story:
No one should be punished without any thought. Everything should be done with due thought. Also, a person should not be judged because of a small lie, because there are some circumstances that people lie.
