रसगुल्ले की जड़

मध्य पूर्वी देश से एक ईरानी शेख व्यापारी महाराज कृष्णदेव राय का अतिथि बन कर आता है। महाराज अपने अतिथि का सत्कार बड़े भव्य तरीके से करते हैं और उसके अच्छे खाने और रहने का प्रबंध करते हैं, और साथ ही कई अन्य सुविधाएं भी प्रदान करते हैं।

एक दिन भोजन पर महाराज का रसोइया शेख व्यापारी के लिए रसगुल्ले बना कर लता है। व्यापारी कहता है कि उसे रसगुल्ले नहीं खाने है। पर हो सके तो उन्हे रसगुल्ले की जड़ क्या है यह बताए। रसोइया सोच मे पड़ जाता है। और अवसर आने पर महाराज कृष्णदेव राय को व्यापारी की मांग बताता है। महाराज रसगुल्ले की जड़ पकड़ने के लिए अपने चतुर मंत्री तेनालीराम को बुलाते हैं।

तेनालीराम झट से रसगुल्ले की जड़ खोजने की चुनौती का प्रस्ताव स्वीकार कर लेते हैं। वह एक खाली कटोरे और धार दार छूरि की मांग करते हैं और महाराज से एक दिन का समय मांगते हैं।

अगले दिन रसगुल्ले की जड़ के टुकड़ो से भरे कटोरे को, मलमल से ढके कपड़े मे ला कर राज दरबार में बैठे ईरानी शेख व्यापारी को देते हैं और उसे कपड़ा हटा कर रसगुल्ले की जड़ देखने को कहते हैं। ईरानी व्यापारी कटोरे में गन्ने के टुकड़े देख कर हैरान हो जाता है। और सारे दरबारी तथा महाराज कृष्णदेव राय, तेनालीराम से पूछते है के यह क्या है?

चतुर तेनालीराम समझाते हैं के हर एक मिठाई शक्कर से बनती है और शक्कर का स्रोत गन्ना होता है। इस लिए रसगुल्ले की जड़ गन्ना है। तेनालीराम के इस गणित से सारे दरबारी, ईरानी व्यापारी और महाराज कृष्णदेव राय प्रफ़्फुलित हो कर हंस पड़ते हैं। और तेनालीराम के तर्क से सहमत भी होते हैं।

An Iranian sheikh from the Middle Eastern country arrives as a guest of merchant Maharaj Krishnadeva Raya. The Maharaja greets his guest in a grand manner and arranges his good food and lodging, and also provides many other facilities.

One day, the chef of the chef cooks rasgulla for the merchant. The businessman says that he does not have to eat rasgulla. But if possible, tell them what is the root of Rasgulla. The cook gets into thinking. And when the occasion comes, Maharaj tells Krishnadeva Raya the demand of the merchant. Maharaj calls his clever minister Tenaliram to take root of Rasgulla.

Tenaliram quickly accepts the challenge of finding the root of Rasgulla. He asks for an empty bowl and dhar dar chori and asks Maharaj for a day’s time.

The next day, after bringing a bowl full of rasgulla root pieces in a cloth covered with muslin, the Iranian sheikh sitting in the royal court gives it to the merchant and asks him to remove the cloth and see the root of the rasgulla. The Iranian businessman is surprised to see the pieces of sugarcane in the bowl. And all the courtiers and King Krishnadeva Raya ask Tenaliram, what is this?

Chatur Tenaliram explains that every sweet is made from sugar and the source of sugar is sugarcane. Hence the root of Rasgulla is sugarcane. With this mathematics of Tenaliram, all the courtiers, Iranian businessmen and Maharaj Krishnadeva Raya are elated. And also agree with Tenaliram’s argument.
